PRESS RELEASE August 2007
The Seawork Exhibition 2007 formed a perfect platform for our introduction to the British market, explains the Owner of the German based Shipyard Baltec, Mr. Stefan Schulz from Lübeck.
As we have specialized in the building of light weight Catamarans using Epoxy Sandwich Technology we were very interested to get in direct dialogue with the ship owners and explain the advantages with this building method. And we were indeed overwhelmed by the interest and the subsequent contacts we established during the Seawork Exhibition, Mr. Schulz continues.
Building light weight Catamarans using Epoxy Sandwich Panelling is not common for Work Boats and Fast Ferries. But the advantage with a super strong construction weighing about 40-50% less than a similar aluminium hull is very important, because we can make a significant cut in fuel consumption, CO2 emission and overall maintenance cost. Facts we were able to discuss and explain in direct dialogue at the Seawork exhibition, and we were very happy to receive the positive response from the visitors and other exhibitors.
Agent for UK
We also managed to establish good relations with a couple of British based Shipyards and we are now in the process of developing this relation.
For further development of the British Market we have appointed Mr. Jeff Weber, Harwich as representative. We find the British Market extremely important and we would like to be able to follow this market very closely and render the best support for the development of new projects. Mr. Schulz stresses that Baltec is a very flexible Shipyard and in close cooperation with the in-house CAT-design we can go in and develop the right solution to meet the demand of the Ship Owner.
